The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to name Amanda Hughes as the new principal of Prairie View Elementary School, bringing her back to a campus where she has experience as both a teacher and assistant principal.

Mrs. Hughes brings more than 15 years of experience at Northwest ISD to her new role, including previous time as a campus instructional teacher and assistant principal at Prairie View Elementary School. She brings a strong familiarity with Northwest ISD’s three Wise County schools, as she has also served as a teacher at Seven Hills Elementary School and Chisholm Trail Middle School.

“I’m excited to once again become a Hawk and rejoin Prairie View Elementary, where I have so many great memories,” Mrs. Hughes said. “I believe in maintaining a strong, caring school culture while also seeking the most out of our students academically. I can’t wait to meet our current students and help guide their academic and life paths.”

Mrs. Hughes currently serves as assistant principal at Northwest ISD’s newest elementary school, Berkshire. She notably brings experience as a teacher from all three campus levels – elementary, middle and high. While the majority of her career has been spent at Northwest ISD, Mrs. Hughes spent four years as a district coordinator of mathematics at neighboring Keller ISD.

Prior to starting as principal later this month, Mrs. Hughes will spend time transitioning into the role while also supporting Berkshire before she leaves.

Mrs. Hughes earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from Midwestern State University, and she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas.
